About a month or so ago, my now boyfriend, Derek, and I had gotten back together after a year and a half apart. Our relationship wasn't the best before so this time we decided we wouldn't fall into our old crappy routine. When we dated before, we didn't really go out on dates or take cute pictures, we didn't do much to be honest. This time we decided it would be different so we came up with a bunch of cute/fun date ideas and the Chinese Lantern Festival was one of the first ones he came up with.
I wasn't sure what to expect when i got there but I heard it was really cool. Not only was it absolutely beautiful but it was super bright and colorful. We're weirdos though and keep changing the name of the festival and think its hilarious. For example he called it the Japanese Vacuum Gathering today. I don't know why but it's just too funny to me. But the inside joke of changing the name is still going on and we keep coming up with better ones every time.
Every lantern display had a sign in front of them that told a story about the different animals or mythical creatures that the exhibit showcased. Besides the fun and colorful lanterns, there were vendors set up down the paths between the lanterns. I've always wanted a parasol and there was a man there who sold ones that were handprinted. So naturally, I had to buy a pink one with pandas on it. It's seriously the cutest thing I've ever purchased (I'll post a photo of it below). If any of you live anywhere near the Philadelphia area, you should definitely visit the festival while it's around. It's such a fun, unique thing to see. It makes for really fun date night as well. I took entirely too many photos of the lanterns so I hope you're ready to see a lot of them! I was going to spam Instagram with the photos but I figured this would be a lot easier.
